Giving to Reading Area Charities Together (RACT) Giving by the Payroll Giving is beneficial to you as well as to us. For every £10 you choose to send to RACT, the complete £10 will be forwarded to our bank account but only £7.80 will be deducted from your payroll. First, check that your employer operates a Payroll Giving scheme. Ask the person who is responsible for the payroll.

If they are not operating a scheme maybe they would like one of our Reading Area Charities Together team to discuss the possibility of setting one up. Once you have established that your employer has a Payroll Giving scheme, making deductions is easy. You will need to complete a form (see below) stating how much you want to donated each month and then send it to us. We will send it to your employer.

Yes. Send a note to us in the post and we will make arrangements for your employer to amend the value. If you want to cancel your donation, notify us and we will make arrangements for your employer to stop making the deductions to your payroll. If you leave the company, your deductions will automatically stop and, should you wish to continue to donate to us, you will need to start a new deduction from the payroll with your new employer.
Yes. If you do not want to donate via your payroll you can give by regular standing order. If you give this way, and you are a U.K. tax payer, we ask you to complete the ‘Gift Aid’ part of the form (see below). Please send the completed form to us and we will forward it to your bank. This way for every £10 you give, we can claim an extra £2.20 from the Inland Revenue and you should declare the annual value donated on your self-assessment form.
